I can tell the DS106 cult is a fan of Ira Glass. I loved his animated words video. I love watching things like that. They are always very creative and fun to watch.
Design Assignments:
Noir Valentine **
I am an Alfred Hitchcock fan. Also any movie with Jimmy Stewart is great. Vertigo was a great movie but totally underrated when it first came out. Its a tragic love story with a major twist. Basically a woman gets thrown off a roof. Pretty scary stuff, classic Hitchcock.
Create a READ Poster ***1/2
I tried to make this look very 90's. When I was a kid we used to have these book fairs called RIF. It stood for Reading is Fun. The PTA would but brand new books for us to read and we all got to pick one book. I always had such a hard time picking just one book. But thats because I am a nerd. They would always hang a banner in the cafeteria that looked something like what I made. It was a way to try to get kids to read more.
You're Invited! ***1/2
If it isn't obvious by now I love How I Met Your Mother. I always wanted Robyn and Ted to be together but the writers were against my wish. All the way until the end of the show. Then they saw things my way and you have to assume that they end up together. So that is why I made them a wedding invitation. It isn't very formal and I added some humor to it.
Bumper Sticker ***1/2
Whenever I think of bumper stickers I think of hippies. I have no idea why. Thats the association I make so I made a hippy bumper sticker. This assignment made me realize that I'm really not good with design. But I do enjoy photoshop, its fun.
Motivational Poster ***
I love these motivational posters. Some are true and actually motivating but a lot of them are extremely funny. I enjoy seeing them when they are used as memes on the internet. I decided to make a cute one. Because why not?
I had fun with these assignments. I am not going to become a graphic designer anytime soon but it made me use my creativity and I like that. I think my favorite is the invitation. I love working with characters and being creative with their personalities.
Minimalist Tv/Movie Poster
I had fun with this design. I figured everyone was going to chose the six word memoir so i decided to do the movie poster. I used only shapes in Photoshop. I tried to keep it as minimal as possible. 2 lines, 2 colors, 2 words, and multiple circles to create one. If you have never seen this movie then you might not get the poster.
